I was just doing some studying for a test in Health that I have on Monday afternoon when I read about a site in my text regarding the American Heart Association and eating healthier, etc. So, I decided that I would go to that website and check it out - even though I certainly know how to eat healthier - it never hurts to be informed. So, I click on the website and look for healthier eating, and in the course of my checking things out you will never guess what I happened to find: podcasts about a variety of subjects.

If anyone is interested in checking out the site - both because it addresses technology that we are learning right now (and podcasting just happens to be the project that I am working on for this Wednesday evening), as well as the fact that it contains some useful information for your health-related issues.

I am amazed by the fact that all the things that we are learning about in our Technology class keep popping up. I suppose that they were out there all along - I just wasn't paying any attention. Anyway, just thought I would share with you - go to www.americanheart.org and check it out.

P.S. If I knew how to set up a link for this website, I would do that and then everyone could just click on it and they would be there. However, I do not possess that skill - at least not yet. If anyone cares to enlighten me - learning together if you will - I would be happy to hear from you.

Darlene,

It's easy to create a link within your post.

While your in there (creating your post) just highlight the word or words you want to make as your link,

then click on the little square button that looks like a globe with a chain over it.

A box will pop up asking for the http:// either paste the link in or type it in and then click OK or apply or whatever the button is called when your done.

You now have a link that anyone can click on. Try it out to make sure that it does take you to the site you want it to.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask, either in class or through my blog.

Good luck!

I find myself seeing the same thing when I go through new textbooks. It's funny that websites and links are included in textbooks now. Textbooks used to just have the key information listed on the side, but now they have additional information you can check out on the internet--go figure!

Perhaps this is just a slow change until the textbooks change form and become online textbooks...

Darlene,

I am glad that the sites refferenced in your text book were helpful. It seems that when I need help in a course that happens to have a site or lists a link for more information it is usually the same stuff that is in the text only more condensed...maybe online text books wouldn't be such a bad idea, but then again I really like the sound of opening a BRAND NEW BOOK!!!

Hi Darlene,

I am pretty sure we are all finding technolgy related tasks in just about everything we read now. Pretty insane isn't it? I am finding myself looking for anything that has to do with technology whenever I am reading the newspaper or reading from textbooks. Technology is spreading faster than we can believe. Thanks for sharing that with us and I am glad you found interest in it!

Darlene,
I noticed that buzz words such as podcasts, ipods, wikis, etc. are popping up all over the place, too. I especially here things on the radio, and my ears have become so conditioned that I don't even think about what people say anymore. However, now that I know what a podcast and wiki is, I am amazed at the types of functions podcasts have in our everyday lives.
